Different days..

..funny how the world is on a mission this week to have the best of Christmasses and more specifically this year, to weather the snow and icey conditions to spend time with family and friends.   It is hard then when someone in your family dies so close to this part of the year where the pressure is to feel 'up', so it is up to those who are close by, but not too close, to help and support them and make the days a little easier.

We said farewell to our friend's Dad today and with our kids helped organise the food and teas. It was a good event, time for us to do something together and for my kids to meet and learn more about some of the relatives they see less often, also to understand that some things we just have to do, for no return, but just because it's the right thing to do.

We took them for a quick meal afterwards, at the Dolphin in town, now we're home, the fire's lit and everyone is cuddled up ready for some Christmas TV special or other.

Interesting then to see that the quote of the day today is :
Unless we think of others and do something for them, we miss one of the greatest sources of happiness.
I guess it's not a direct happiness in this case, more a secure feeling, but knowing you did the right thing and that people you have relied on in the past, now know that they can rely on you .
