365/198 Hero and Happy Birthday..

Jordan did it again... look at this fab cake she made over the weekend to celebrate Lilly's fourth birthday today... we had the 'bit of a do' yesterday when they came by as it is easier than on a Monday.

Wow, it has been quite a journey the last four years, so many sad days and glad days and I think many of them have been quite moulding in the way I live and think now..
I think you have moments in your life which you relate timings of other events by.. like using years to say it was 'before' or 'after' that year or event.. for me they are 1969 when Dad died and my brother married, thus leaving me and Mum together for a few years; 1973 when we moved to Mousehole and then probably 1982 when I finished Uni. and 1992 when I married Col and had Zac.

After that it's down to which children were about, with five there's plenty of landmarks!

Lilly had herself a new bike.. and what a bike it is.. Minnie Moused if that is a desciptive term.. so cool.

Hero : as soon as I saw this I was excited.. we often talk about who is our hero and bemoan the fact that 'kids these days' don't have real heroes 'like when we was young' (yes I know that is such bad English, it was meant to be!)   Colin's all time hero (and he has many, mostly war heroes who at very young ages did things most of us wouldn't dream of) is Andy Green who was the pilot / driver of the Thrust SSC supersonic car.. well he reckons he was so brave, knowing the risks but calculating them and taking them, and subsequently 'winning'  Well if you know of him you will agree, otherwise I may be boring you by now!

As for me, I was unsure of who my hero is, yeah I swooned over David Cassidy as a teen and maybe thought 'ahhh , my hero' but I don't think that is the essence of the thing.  Jordan said it should be my mum and I asked why.. 'because you talk about her a lot' and on reflection, as the most influential person in my entire life I guess she must be my hero... I could talk about her for ages, mainly little anecdotes but they will wait for another day.

.. I am writing from behind the date so for today (or yesterday in fact) I will use Peppa Pig as Lilly's hero and Jb as mine for being such a star and baking such love into her cakes for us all..
